What it is
FYOS OS is the desktop shell of the distribution. You open an address in the browser and get your own desktop with windows, a dock, a menu bar and several workspaces. Every surface is a small app provided by the hub; the shell itself ships no content. New apps from plugins appear without a single line of shell code.
What it does
- A desktop in the browser. Windows, dock, menu bar, notifications and workspaces you swipe between.
- Apps from the hub. Interfaces arrive as
ui://HTML following MCP Apps; the shell shows them as windows with no per-app code. - Control centre. Light, dark or automatic; background lava, calm or off; colours aurora, ember and neon.
- One server for the browser. nginx passes the hub and the agent through; the agent UI may only be embedded in its own origin.
- Built with Astro 5, SolidJS, Tailwind 4 and Kobalte; shipped as the image
ghcr.io/sirfyyn/fyos-os/web.
